The Foundation says goodbye to a valued member
The Catholic Community Foundation held their first meeting of 2018 last week in our board room at St. Teresa’s CES in Kitchener. While it was lovely to see the trustees and welcome everyone to 2018, the meeting had a somewhat somber note as we said goodbye to a very valued and trusted Foundation member.
Maria Gardner, Lottery Chair, had the honour of speaking on behalf of all the trustees in saying goodbye to Doug Hess, past Chair and presenting him with a token of appreciation from the Board.
“Doug has been a valued Trustee and has given so much of his time and talents to this Foundation. His dedication and commitment over the past years as both a Trustee and Chair has enhanced the Catholic Community Foundation of Waterloo Region’s mandate to help Catholic Schools, Parishes and the Community.
Doug’s talents and dedication helped in the transition of the retirement of Doug Farwell, long time administrator and the successful hire of his replacement, Julie Hause. In addition, his expertise assisted greatly with the upgrade of technology and the streamlining of office operations.
During this changeover Doug also facilitated the relocation of the office of the Foundation and Lottery from the WCDSB office to our current location at St. Teresa CES in Kitchener.
Throughout all of these time commitments, Doug Hess worked hard at promoting the Foundation and increasing their community awareness through his attendance at many Grant cheque presentations. Photos from these appearances can now be seen on our Facebook page and our website.
He will be greatly missed but always a part of this Foundation.”
